5 The Blueprint Birmingham Metrics table reveals metropolitan Birmingham’s status among 11 peer metropolitan statistical areas for rank base years 2001 to 2010 and 2010 to 2014 in key economic indicators, ranked by percentage change. The economic indicators are grouped in three categories: Economic Prosperity, Education and Workforce, and Community and Regional Stewardship. Metropolitan Birmingham’s rankings improved in seven of the 15 economic indicators. Four economic indicators show a decline; while four remained unchanged.
